New Stuff

Today we went out looking for some cool new pieces. We were NOT disappointed with all the cool stuff we brought home!

I'm going to repurpose the lobster crate into a coffee table. The American flag is going to stay at home. I love it! It has so much character.

We found two great trunks, one that is metal and all beat up and one that is wood and metal. We also found this super heavy duty tool box. It would look so cool as a planter!

I love this dresser... I am so tempted to keep it as is and not paint it. The lines are amazing. I fell in love with this piece as soon as I saw it.
Colonial Antique Mall is having their May sale. Stop on by.. my booth is 15% off.
Have a great weekend!

Arizona

We just returned home from 8 lovely days in sunny Arizona. We went there without a complete schedule of things to do. It was so nice. We all had some much needed down time.

A photo of Allie on our way to the airport.
We spent the first day just hanging around Scottsdale. A must on my list was a visit to Sprinkles Cupcakes. I know they have one in Chicago but to have one so close to where we were staying was nice.
Next on our list was a visit to Sedona. We went to The Chapel of The Holy Cross.

This is a view from the window of the Church... Not too shabby! I could get used to it ;).

We visited the Grand Caynon. Oh my was that amazing. All of the pictures of that visit are on Allie's camera. If you ever have a chance to visit it. I would recommend it!

This was taken in Old Town Scottsdale. We stopped at a gelato place. It was very tasty. A picture of Allie and Matt by a huge boot!

I HATE pictures of myself, hence the reason I look awkward.. I think it's the only one of Doug and I. We didn't take a lot of pictures but I wanted to share a few of the ones I had.
We went into a Restoration Hardware that was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Allie and I joked that we want to live I'm it. It was three stories and it was out of this world. The top floor was open air and had all of their outdoor living decor. I took home some amazing ideas. Seriously, this store was to die for!
On a Frances Dureen note, I have a garage full of furniture to redo. I am really excited about some amazing furniture that I found. I am still trying to get into a groove at my new space. I love all the people at the mall. They have been so welcoming and sweet. I am moving lots of stuff into my basement space but I really need to do something to personalize it. It's not how I want it to look but I have lots of ideas!
Hopefully I'll be posting some finished pictures next week.
Happy Easter!

Farmhouse Dresser

We brought another dresser/buffer to Colonial today. This piece reminds me of the farmhouse style furniture. The two bottom drawers are so deep.

I am so happy with how this piece turned out. I had an initial vision and the piece ended up completely different than I anticipated!

Next up, I have a gorgeous hutch that I am going to make over. I can't wait to see how it turns out :)

Swiss Army Cabinet

Today we brought a few more pieces to the mall. We brought the Swiss Army Flag cabinet.

The cabinet has five shelves. I thought it would be cool in a bathroom to hold towels and toiletries. It would also be useful in an entrance way as a catch all for backpacks, purses, mail, etc. It could also be useful in a kitchen for a pantry.

I finished a dresser with Anne Sloan Paris Gray. I sanded the drawers and put the numbers 1-5 on each drawer. The drawer pulls are made from think jute
We stopped by the Restore store in Woodstock (on a recommendation from Ann), thank you Ann :) and bought about 250 sq ft of parquet flooring. It came out of either a school or a Church. It's pretty cool stuff and we have a plan for using it at our house. I'll post pictures later.
Doug has been a trooper with all of help :-).
Off to finish another Union Jack picture. Thanks for stopping by!

Metal Trunk

We spent last Saturday afternoon "junking". We came across this cool metal trunk. There is a name plate stamped on it.

I cleaned it up a bit and brought it to the store. I'm sure somebody will find a great place for it in there home.

I'm working on a few pieces that I'm really excited about. One is a cool dresser for a kids room, a cabinet that would be great for a laundry room, bathroom or entrance and a huge table. I also bought a dresser so I can make another Union Jack.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Union Jack Dresser

I wish I had taken a picture of this dresser before I painted it. This was one of the bigger transformations. I'm happy with how it turned out. While we were taking pictures for Furnishly I was so tempted to keep it for our house. Each time we make a Union Jack piece I don't want to part with it. Maybe it's because I loved the time we spent in London... Thanks for checking it out :)
